In case you didn’t get the memo, Macomb’s Spring Break is March 6-13 and watching one of those old beach movies with Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon is the perfect way to get in the mood, especially if you aren’t going anywhere.
Yes, I know, those films were made in the days of typewriters and landlines, but the plots: fun-loving kids enjoying some innocent hijinks on the beach during their spring break from college still ring true, or not.
And if you want a real blast from the past, watch Where the Boys Are, the movie said to have single-handedly made Fort Lauderdale the premier spring break destination for many years running. I went there on spring break in high school – in the very last days of its popularity, of course.
So what cool place is everybody going to this year?
