Perhaps you’ve seen the logo or read about a College event that is eligible for credits toward a cultural competency certificate through Macomb Multicultural International Initiatives (MMII), but still aren’t sure what any of that means.
MMII offers free enrichment programs throughout the year that explore a variety of cultural and societal themes. There are programs that commemorate Black History and Women’s History months, promote study and travel abroad, and explore current issues like AIDS awareness or domestic violence. There is the annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration and an evening excursion to the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Attendance at each MMII program qualifies for continuing education (CU) credit toward a cultural competency certificate, which not only shows the value you place on a life full of rich experiences but is also a valuable addition to your resume.
Look for the MMII logo on an advertised event and pre-register on WebAdvisor using the code provided. Once you have earned 20 contact hours (2 CEUs), contact MMII@Macomb.edu to receive your certificate.
