Speak up!

October 26, 2021 by Macomb Community College

By Janice Fox, Speech Communication Arts instructor

No speech? Know speech!

Being able to effectively talk with others is a necessary skill for any profession. And, as a Speech Communication Arts instructor who has taught at multiple colleges, I know speech and I love sharing my passion with others. Nothing is more rewarding to me than seeing students like you really begin to break out of their comfort zone and realize their own potential!

One of the most basic, yet important principles to understand is that, in order to improve your communication skills, you need to practice.  It’s the only way you’re going to gain confidence both in your speaking abilities and in yourself.

That’s why I invite you to join one of our speech communication classes. Even if you’re not a communication major, the information and skills you learn in a communication class will help you in any career field.

And if you love sharing your opinions, get ready! We’re forming a new speech team just for you! Take your communication skills to the next level. Join us, and you’ll get to:

  • Represent Macomb in exciting competitions against students from other colleges and universities
  • Receive free training to help you become a more effective speaker
  • Gain resume-worthy experience
  • Impress college admission representatives and potential employers

Interested in participating? Now’s your time to speak up! Contact me at foxj@macomb.edu and I’ll help you get started.
