Michiganders and people nationwide will head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 3. I hope you’re one of them!

I can’t stress enough how important it is to vote. Your participation in this election, whether in person or by absentee ballot, will impact the outcome not only in your community, but the country at large. But first, you need to register to vote. And there’s no better time to do so than today, National Voter Registration Day!

#NationalVoterRegistrationDay, the fourth Tuesday in September, is a national holiday celebrating civic engagement and democracy. It serves as a reminder of the importance of voting in America.

Here at Macomb, we’ve partnered with TurboVote to make it easier for students to register to vote and receive important reminders about upcoming elections. This free service is available to all Macomb students and can be used to register to vote before the upcoming deadline of Oct. 19.

Beyond voting, there are other ways for you to get engaged with the process, such as becoming a poll worker, volunteering for a campaign or issue, or even running for office. Learn more at www.michigan.gov/vote!

No matter how you choose to participate in this year’s election, be sure to share your voting experience with fellow students and the community by posting to social media with the hashtag #macombvotes!
